First day on the road

Left Jo-Ann and Uncle Dave at our condo just steps from the Pacific Ocean (well, at least Vancouver Harbour), and rode to Langley to join Bob and George (and, as a nice surprise, Bob's daughter Jocelyn, fresh home from Argentian who decided to ride with her Dad to Vernon to visit her grandparents).

A beautiful HOT day to ride. Riding through the Coquihala and the Connector one is reminded of what a beautiful province this is. The Coquihala River was particularly beautiful with the blue-green colour of the heavy snow run-off.

Got to Kelowna early enough for some good visits: daughter-in-law Connie, my former hair cutter and good friend Rhonda, the recently-retired but ready for many new adventures best buddy Gordy Charles, the Hopleys (see photos of Matthew, Anna and Markus on the bike), and then dinner with sons Colin and Matt, and overnight with in-laws Shirley & Dave.

A great start to the trip - off to Calgary tomorrow to add Jim, the 4th "Wild Hog" - and perhaps the only one given that he's the only one on a Harley.

I look forward to monitoring your progess here and with the SGS - snitch (scarey technology, by the way)
Dylan is currently in Calgary with friends (251-0178).
I can certainly line up cheer leaders for you in Winnipeg if you are interested!
We will pray for good weather.
Take care of yourself.

Thanks, Keith - the plan is to get to Brandon tomorrow and Thunder Bay the next night - pretty ambitious, we'll have to see - but if so, no stopping in Winnipeg.

The Snitch IS scary technology - apparently you can tell the speed we're travelling at the moment you connect (just be clear that technology is in fact fallible, so the indicated speed no doubt is in excess of that at which we're actually travelling)

Love to all in Belleville

Hi Hugh,

Did it rain on you yet?

Did Flat Stanley meet the dinosaur?

I hope you see the Sleeping Giant at my camp tomorrow night!

Good night Hugh.

Love Matt (not big Matt... little Matt)
